Visualizer FAQ

How do I connect my visualizer to my display device?

First you need to decide what display device you are planning to use; from there you can determine what inputs are on both the visualizer and the display device. For example connecting to a TV, connect the video output of the visualizer to the video input of the TV and then select the Video setting on the Television.

What is the main difference between an Overhead projector and a visualizer?

Overhead projectors (OHP) are restricted to displaying transparencies. Visualizers can show documents on plain paper, transparencies and 3D objects.

Are visualizers, visual presenters, and documents the same thing?

They are all the same device. Some manufacturers name the device differently to set themselves apart from the rest of the field in order to distinguish their product.

When I am using the video output of my visualizer, why can’t I read text?

You can't read the text on a visualizer using video output because the CCD chip doesn't have enough resolution to show the whole document at one time. The solution to this would be to zoom in on particular areas of the text. Some models by Wolfvision try to correct this fuzziness by implementing a feature called "image turn" that allows the whole text to be viewed as a sharper image.

Am I able to switch between my PC and my visualizer?

Most models are able to do this by a touch of a button. With visualizers that have outputs of XGA or SXGA they may have an RGB switch which allows you to switch back and forth from PC to visualizer.

I can't get my image to focus sharply, how do I do this?

There can be a couple reasons for why this may occur. First you should check that the close-up lens is attached properly for the specific purpose (attached when viewing objects on the stage, unattached when viewing subject in front or behind stage). Secondly the object may be too close; therefore it will be out of range of the focal length of the lens.

The USB connection from my PC to my visualizer is not working, what is wrong?.

Make sure that both the PC and the Visualizer is turned on and that the USB cable is plugged into both. Also check that the appropriate drivers are installed in both the PC and the visualizer.

There is no image on my display device, what am I doing wrong?

There are numerous reasons for why this is happening. Outlined bellow is a list of things to check:

  • Check the resolution on the visualizer is the same as that of the display device. (I.e. if the resolution on the projector is XGA and the resolution on the visualizer is SXGA, they are incompatible and there will be no image.)
  • Check Iris control is not completely closed.
  • Check the input selection on the display device.
  • Check the VGA cable is properly connected.
  • Check that the display device and visualizer is turned on.
My picture on my display device is not focusing properly, what do I do?

Make sure that the correct lens is attached. The lens might also be dirty, so make sure it is clean and clear from any obstructions.
